Read text messages on your Apple Watch Read text messages that come in on your Apple Watch. You can then respond to them using the QWERTY and QuickPath keyboards (not available in all languages, only on the Apple Watch Series 7 and Apple Watch Series 8), dictation, Scribble, or a prepared response. You can also switch to typing a response on your iPhone.

Raise your Apple Watch to read a message when you feel a tap or hear an alert sound indicating that a message has arrived.
To scroll down to the message's bottom, turn the Digital Crown.
Tap the screen's top to advance to the message's top.
Tip: To view web-formatted content that is optimized for Apple Watch, tap a website link within a message. To zoom in on the content, double-tap.
If the message came in a while ago, tap the notification after touching and holding the top of the screen. You will then be able to see the message. Tap Dismiss after scrolling down to mark the message as read. Press the Digital Crown to dismiss the notification without marking the message as read.
