India, China Consent To "Commonly Adequate Goal" In Eastern Ladakh
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement on Monday that the two sides had a "frank and in-depth" discussion about how to resolve the relevant issues in the Western Sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
New Delhi, India: During their military talks on Sunday, India and China agreed to maintain close contact and resolve the remaining issues in eastern Ladakh as soon as possible.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement on Monday that the two sides had a "frank and in-depth" discussion about how to resolve the relevant issues in the Western Sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
According to the MEA, "The two sides agreed to stay in close contact, maintain dialogue through military and diplomatic channels, and work out a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues at the earliest."
It said that both sides had agreed to keep the ground safe and stable.
According to the MEA, "The two sides had a candid and in-depth discussion on the resolution of the relevant issues along the LAC in the Western Sector in order to restore peace and tranquility in the border areas, which will enable progress in bilateral relations."Eastern Ladakh is referred to by the government as the Western Sector.
The MEA stated, "In accordance with the guidance provided by the State Leaders and following the meeting between the two Foreign Ministers in March 2023, they had an open and candid exchange of views."
The eighteenth round of India-China Corps Leader level discussions was held at Chushul-Moldo line meeting point on the Chinese side on Sunday. The talks took place a few days before Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu was scheduled to visit India for a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.
